Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Heberpenta-L is a liquid pentavalent vaccine developed by the Center for Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology (CIGB) in Cuba. It is indicated for the active immunization of infants and children against diphtheria, tetanus, pertussis (whooping cough), hepatitis B, and invasive diseases caused by *Haemophilus influenzae* type b (Hib). The vaccine is a combination of diphtheria and tetanus toxoids, inactivated whole-cell *Bordetella pertussis*, recombinant hepatitis B surface antigen (HBsAg), and conjugated Hib capsular polysaccharide (PRP). As a fully liquid formulation, it eliminates the need for reconstitution at the point of care, simplifying administration and reducing the risk of contamination. It is typically administered via intramuscular injection and is approved for use in Cuba and other regions where CIGB products are distributed.
