Overview
HEC-648 is a fully human monoclonal antibody targeting the G protein (glycoprotein G) of the Nipah virus (NiV). Developed jointly by the Wuhan Institute of Virology of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, Sunshine Lake Pharma (along with its subsidiary YiChang HEC ChangJiang Pharmaceutical), and the Shenzhen Gebija Molecular Medicine Innovation Center, HEC-648 is designed as a therapeutic agent to treat Nipah virus infection. By binding to the viral G protein, the antibody blocks the virus from engaging with host cell receptors (such as Ephrin-B2 and Ephrin-B3), thereby neutralizing viral entry and infection. HEC-648 is administered intravenously and is currently being evaluated in Phase 1 clinical trials in healthy adults to assess its safety, tolerability, pharmacokinetics, and immunogenicity.
