HEC-83518 is an orally administered small molecule drug under development for the treatment of insomnia. It acts as an orexin receptor antagonist, a class of drugs that target the orexin system involved in regulating wakefulness and sleep. The drug was initially developed by Sunshine Lake Pharma, a subsidiary of HEC Pharm. Clinical studies have focused on evaluating its safety, tolerability, pharmacokinetics, and preliminary pharmacodynamics in healthy subjects using measures such as the Karolinska Sleepiness Scale and sleep monitoring instruments[1][2].
