HEC53856

HEC53856 is an investigational small molecule drug that acts as a hypoxia-inducible factor prolyl hydroxylase (HIF-PH) inhibitor. It is being developed primarily for the treatment of anemia, including anemia associated with chronic kidney disease and chemotherapy-induced anemia in non-myeloid malignancies. By inhibiting HIF-PH, the drug stabilizes hypoxia-inducible factors (HIFs), which can stimulate erythropoietin production and improve red blood cell formation. The drug has been studied in both healthy volunteers and patient populations using oral capsule and tablet formulations. Development has included phase I studies in healthy subjects as well as phase I/II trials in patients with end-stage renal disease on dialysis and those experiencing chemotherapy-induced anemia.
