Drug intelligence / Profile preview
HECB1502201 is a small molecule potassium-competitive acid blocker (P-CAB) being developed by Sunshine Lake Pharma as an improved new drug (Category 2) for the treatment of peptic ulcer bleeding. As a P-CAB, it inhibits the gastric H+/K+-ATPase (proton pump) by competing with potassium ions at the pump's potassium-binding site. This mechanism allows for rapid, potent, and reversible suppression of gastric acid secretion without the need for acid activation required by traditional proton pump inhibitors (PPIs). The rapid onset and sustained pH control provided by HECB1502201 are particularly suited for the management of acute peptic ulcer bleeding, where maintaining a high intragastric pH is essential for stabilizing blood clots and preventing rebleeding.
