Hedrin Dev 42

Hedrin Dev 42 (also referred to as Hedrin 4% Lotion Dev 42) is an investigational, developmental formulation of dimeticone 4% lotion developed by Thornton & Ross. It is designed as an alternative dimeticone 4% formulation to the standard Hedrin 4% lotion, evaluated in a Phase III comparative clinical trial to determine whether it is more effective at preventing head louse egg hatching and eradicating head lice after two applications on days 0 and 7. As a physical, non-insecticidal pediculicidal agent, its active ingredient is dimeticone (a silicone polymer) which acts by physically coating and smothering head lice and their eggs, disrupting their osmotic balance rather than acting as a chemical neurotoxin. It is indicated for the treatment of head louse infestation (pediculosis capitis).
