Drug intelligence / Profile preview
HeiLiaoDou Particle is a traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) preparation derived from a specific variety of black soybean (*Glycine max* (L.) Merr.). It is primarily indicated for the treatment of vitiligo (leukoderma) and other pigmentary disorders. In TCM theory, it is used to nourish the liver and kidneys, replenish essence and blood, and extinguish 'wind,' addressing the underlying deficiencies believed to cause depigmentation. Modern pharmacological research suggests that the formulation supports melanocyte function and stimulates melanin synthesis, potentially by increasing tyrosinase activity. It also provides antioxidant properties that protect melanocytes from oxidative stress, which is a key factor in the pathogenesis of vitiligo. The drug is typically administered orally in a granule (particle) form and is often used in clinical settings in China as part of a comprehensive treatment regimen for vitiligo.
