Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Helichrysum italicum flowering tops extract is a freeze-dried botanical drug candidate developed by Aboca S.p.A. for the treatment of postoperative pain. Derived from the flowering tops of *Helichrysum italicum* (commonly known as immortelle or sandy everlasting), the extract contains unique pyrone-phloroglucinol heterodimers such as arzanol and β-diketones known as italidiones. These active constituents are associated with potent anti-inflammatory and analgesic properties, likely mediated through the inhibition of inflammatory pathways. The drug is formulated as granules for oral suspension and has been evaluated in a Phase 2 randomized, parallel, placebo-controlled clinical trial to assess its efficacy in managing pain following surgical procedures.
