Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Helixor P is a non-fermented aqueous botanical extract derived from mistletoe (*Viscum album*) growing on pine trees (*Pinus sylvestris*). Developed by Helixor Heilmittel GmbH, it has been registered in Germany since 1982 as an anthroposophic medicinal product. The extract contains active constituents such as mistletoe lectins (primarily ML-I and ML-III) and viscotoxins, which function as type II ribosome-inactivating proteins and immunostimulants. Helixor P is standardized for its biological effect on human leukemia cells and has demonstrated potent cytotoxic activity across various human tumor cell lines, including lung, breast, melanoma, and colon cancer. It is currently being evaluated in Phase 2 clinical trials for the treatment of cancer-related fatigue in patients with advanced breast cancer and non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC).
