Helkort

Helkort is a topical antibiotic cream containing 2% fusidic acid, marketed by the Turkish company **Apeks Pharma** and manufactured by **İlko İlaç**. It is indicated for the treatment of various bacterial skin infections, such as impetigo, folliculitis, and infected dermatitis, particularly those caused by *Staphylococcus aureus*. The active ingredient, fusidic acid, works by inhibiting bacterial protein synthesis. It specifically binds to **elongation factor G (EF-G)** on the ribosome, preventing the translocation of the ribosome along the mRNA and the subsequent release of the EF-G-GDP complex, which effectively halts the elongation of the polypeptide chain. Helkort is typically supplied in 20-gram tubes for dermatological use.
