Overview

HEM-001 is an investigational therapeutic candidate being developed by Omic Analytics for the treatment of vaso-occlusive pain crises (VOC) in patients with sickle cell disease. Currently in the discovery and lead optimization stage, HEM-001 is designed to inhibit P-selectin (SELP), a cell adhesion molecule found on the surface of activated endothelial cells and platelets. In sickle cell disease, P-selectin plays a critical role in the pathophysiology of vaso-occlusion by mediating the adhesion of sickle erythrocytes and leukocytes to the vascular wall, leading to blood flow obstruction and subsequent pain crises. By blocking P-selectin, HEM-001 aims to reduce the frequency and severity of these clinical events. The drug was identified through Omic Analytics' AI-driven discovery platform.
