Hem101 is an autologous anti-CD19 chimeric antigen receptor (CAR) T-cell therapy developed by the National Research Center for Hematology in Russia. It is designed to target and eliminate CD19-positive B-cell malignancies. The therapy involves genetically modifying a patient's own T lymphocytes to express a CAR that recognizes the CD19 antigen, a protein commonly found on the surface of both normal and malignant B cells. Once re-infused into the patient, these engineered cells identify and destroy cancer cells. It is currently being evaluated in Phase I/II clinical trials for adult patients with relapsed or refractory B-cell lymphoproliferative disorders, including acute lymphoblastic leukemia and various forms of non-Hodgkin lymphoma.
