Overview
Hemacord is an **allogeneic cord blood-derived hematopoietic progenitor cell therapy** used for unrelated donor hematopoietic progenitor cell transplantation following an appropriate preparative regimen. It is intended to provide **hematopoietic and immunologic reconstitution** in patients with inherited or acquired disorders of the hematopoietic system, including conditions arising after myeloablative treatment. Mechanistically, Hemacord functions as a **donor stem and progenitor cell graft**: infused cord blood hematopoietic progenitor cells home to the bone marrow, engraft, and regenerate multilineage blood and immune cell production rather than acting through a single molecular target. Hemacord is a regulated cord blood transplant product rather than a conventional small-molecule or antibody drug.
