Hematopoietic progenitor cells, cord blood is an **allogeneic cord blood-derived hematopoietic progenitor cell therapy** used for unrelated donor hematopoietic progenitor cell transplantation following an appropriate preparative regimen. The product consists of cryopreserved human umbilical cord blood cells containing hematopoietic stem and progenitor cells, including viable **CD34-positive** cells, that home to the **bone marrow**, engraft, proliferate, and differentiate to restore **hematopoietic and immunologic function** in patients with inherited or acquired disorders of the hematopoietic system or after myeloablative therapy. It is marketed through multiple licensed cord blood products, including **HemaCord**, **CordCyte**, **Allocord**, **Clevecord**, and **Ducord**, and represents a biologic **cell therapy/stem cell therapy** rather than a conventional single-molecule drug.
