Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Hemay102 is a small molecule, cytotoxic anticancer agent classified as an anthraquinone tetracycline derivative. It exerts its antitumor effects primarily by inhibiting the activity of topoisomerase II (TopoII), an enzyme critical for DNA replication and cell division. This mechanism disrupts DNA processes in rapidly dividing tumor cells, leading to cell death. The drug was developed by Tianjin Hemay Pharmaceutical and related entities for the treatment of solid tumors, with a particular focus on hepatocellular carcinoma (liver cancer). Clinical development reached Phase I trials in China but has since been suspended[1][2][5][8].
