Heme-exposed intravenous immunoglobulin is a modified formulation of standard intravenous immunoglobulin (IVIG) in which the immunoglobulin product is exposed to heme, an iron-containing porphyrin compound. IVIG is typically a pooled antibody product, predominately IgG, derived from human plasma, and used in the treatment of immunodeficiency disorders, autoimmune conditions, and some infections.
