HEMHealing

HEMHealing is an oxygenating hydrogel dressing developed by HEMARINA for the treatment of chronic and acute wounds, including deep burns. The product incorporates M101, a high-capacity extracellular hemoglobin derived from the marine lugworm *Arenicola marina*. Unlike human hemoglobin, M101 is a large, biopolymer molecule that can carry 40 times more oxygen and release it according to a partial pressure gradient. When applied topically, HEMHealing delivers oxygen directly to the hypoxic wound bed, promoting cellular proliferation, collagen synthesis, and overall tissue repair while providing anti-inflammatory and antibacterial benefits. It is currently classified as a medical device/biotech product in development and has been used under compassionate use authorization for full-thickness burns.
