Mechanistically, it acts as a prothrombin inhibitor, potentially interfering with blood coagulation pathways[1][3]. Recent computational studies have also identified Hemi-Babim as a potential inhibitor of SARS-CoV‑2 main protease (MPro/3C-like protease) and papain-like protease, suggesting possible antiviral activity against COVID‑19 through inhibition of viral replication enzymes[2][5].
