Hemoparatide is a synthetic peptide agonist of the parathyroid hormone 1 receptor (PTH1R), currently under development by Pharis Biotec for the treatment of psoriasis. The parathyroid hormone 1 receptor is expressed in skin keratinocytes, where its activation modulates cell growth and differentiation. By mimicking the action of parathyroid hormone (PTH) or its fragments, hemoparatide aims to suppress the abnormal keratinocyte hyperproliferation and promote normal differentiation, addressing the underlying pathophysiology of psoriatic plaques. This peptide-based approach leverages the regulatory role of the PTH/PTHrP signaling system in skin physiology to restore epidermal homeostasis.
