Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Hemorrane Plus is a topical rectal ointment for the treatment of uncomplicated haemorrhoids that combines hydrocortisone acetate (the corticosteroid in Hemorrane) with the local anesthetic benzocaine to provide both anti‑inflammatory and analgesic effects.[1][7][11] Hydrocortisone reduces local inflammation, edema, and pruritus by glucocorticoid receptor–mediated vasoconstriction and inhibition of inflammatory mediators, while benzocaine blocks voltage‑gated sodium channels in peripheral nerves to produce localized numbness and rapid relief of pain, burning, and itching.[1][6] The product is being evaluated in multicenter, double‑blind, randomized clinical trials versus hydrocortisone‑only Hemorrane and placebo for short‑term relief of symptoms in adults with grade I–II, non‑thrombosed internal, external, or mixed haemorrhoids.[1][11]
