Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Hemotrex is a brand of tranexamic acid developed and marketed by Nutramedica in the Philippines. As an antifibrinolytic small molecule, it works by competitively inhibiting the activation of plasminogen to plasmin. By binding to the lysine-binding sites of plasminogen and plasmin, it prevents these molecules from binding to fibrin, thereby inhibiting fibrinolysis and stabilizing blood clots. Hemotrex is primarily indicated for the treatment and prophylaxis of hemorrhage associated with excessive fibrinolysis, including surgical bleeding and heavy menstrual bleeding, as well as for the prophylaxis of hereditary angioedema. It is available in both injectable (IV/IM) and oral capsule formulations.
