Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Henagliflozin is a small molecule sodium-glucose cotransporter 2 (SGLT2) inhibitor developed for the treatment of type 2 diabetes mellitus. It works by inhibiting SGLT2 in the renal proximal tubules, reducing glucose reabsorption and promoting urinary glucose excretion, thereby lowering blood glucose levels. Clinical studies have shown that henagliflozin as monotherapy or in combination with metformin provides effective glycemic control, reduces body weight and blood pressure, and is generally well tolerated. The drug has been approved in China for adult patients with type 2 diabetes to improve glycemic control[3][4][6][9].
