Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Henagliflozin + metformin is an oral sustained-release fixed-dose combination of the selective sodium-glucose cotransporter 2 inhibitor henagliflozin, supplied as henagliflozin proline, and metformin hydrochloride. Marketed in China as **Ruixinda**, it is used with diet and exercise to improve glycemic control in adults with type 2 diabetes mellitus who are appropriate candidates for both components. Henagliflozin reduces renal glucose reabsorption and increases urinary glucose excretion, while metformin reduces hepatic glucose production and improves insulin sensitivity. The product was developed by Jiangsu Hengrui Medicine and its subsidiary Shandong Suncadia Medicine and was approved in China in 5 mg/500 mg and 5 mg/1,000 mg strengths.
