Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Henagliflozin (SHR3824) is a potent and selective small molecule inhibitor of sodium-glucose co-transporter 2 (SGLT2) developed by Jiangsu HengRui Medicine for the treatment of type 2 diabetes mellitus. By inhibiting SGLT2 in the proximal tubules of the kidney, it reduces glucose reabsorption and increases urinary glucose excretion. Simvastatin is a lipid-lowering medication belonging to the statin class, which inhibits HMG-CoA reductase, the rate-limiting enzyme in cholesterol synthesis. The combination of SHR3824 and simvastatin has been evaluated in Phase 1 clinical trials to investigate potential drug-drug interactions, specifically assessing the pharmacokinetics and safety of co-administration in healthy volunteers to support the management of diabetic patients who often require concomitant lipid-lowering therapy.
