Hendra monoclonal antibodies (Hendra mAbs) are experimental immunotherapies developed by MAPP Biopharmaceuticals for the treatment and prophylaxis of Hendra virus (HeV) infection. These antibodies are designed to neutralize the virus by binding to the viral G (attachment) glycoprotein, which is essential for the virus to latch onto and enter host cells via ephrin-B2 or ephrin-B3 receptors. By blocking this interaction, the antibodies prevent viral replication and spread within the host. This program is part of MAPP's specialized portfolio targeting high-consequence zoonotic viruses, which also includes therapies for Ebola, Marburg, and Nipah viruses. While MAPP has collaborated on the production of the well-known m102.4 antibody, the 'Hendra mAbs' entry in their pipeline represents their ongoing development efforts in the Henipavirus space.
