Drug intelligence / Profile preview
HR20033 is a fixed-dose combination (FDC) tablet containing hengagliflozin and metformin, developed by Jiangsu Hengrui Pharmaceuticals (through its subsidiary Shandong Shengdi Pharmaceutical) for the treatment of type 2 diabetes mellitus. Hengagliflozin is a selective sodium-glucose cotransporter 2 (SGLT2) inhibitor that reduces renal glucose reabsorption, thereby increasing urinary glucose excretion and lowering blood glucose levels. Metformin is a biguanide that lowers blood glucose by decreasing hepatic glucose production, decreasing intestinal absorption of glucose, and improving insulin sensitivity by increasing peripheral glucose uptake and utilization. The combination therapy aims to provide synergistic glycemic control by targeting multiple pathophysiological pathways of diabetes.
