Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Hengqing I formula (恒清Ⅰ号方) is a Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) herbal formulation developed by researchers at the Shanghai Sixth People's Hospital for the treatment of vascular dementia. The formula is specifically designed to address the TCM syndrome of kidney deficiency, phlegm, and blood stasis, which is a common pathological pattern in cognitive decline. It has been evaluated in multicenter, randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled clinical trials to assess its efficacy in improving cognitive function (as measured by MMSE and ADAS-cog scores) and activities of daily living in patients with vascular dementia. The therapeutic effects are hypothesized to involve the modulation of metabolic pathways and improvement of cerebral microcirculation, although the specific molecular targets of its multiple botanical constituents remain complex and are primarily understood through holistic TCM principles.
