Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Hepa-B is a recombinant DNA vaccine developed to prevent Hepatitis B virus (HBV) infection. It is locally manufactured in Bangladesh by Incepta, following a technology transfer agreement with BioBridge company in Pune, India. The vaccine aims to provide a safe, cost-effective, and affordable alternative to imported Hepatitis B vaccines like Engerix-B, particularly in regions with high HBV prevalence such as Bangladesh. Clinical trials have demonstrated its non-inferiority in immunogenicity and safety compared to Engerix-B in healthy adults.
