**Heparan sulfate analog** is a proprietary low molecular weight biologic glycosaminoglycan analog developed by Senté Labs for topical dermatologic use. It is designed to mimic endogenous heparan sulfate while being small enough to penetrate skin and resistant to enzymatic degradation. Its proposed mechanism involves binding heparan sulfate binding sites on extracellular matrix proteins such as collagen, fibronectin, and laminin, modulating growth factor signaling in the skin microenvironment, and inhibiting the antimicrobial peptide LL-37 that is implicated in cutaneous inflammation. The ingredient is used in Senté topical dermatology and skincare products such as dermal repair cream and has been positioned for conditions including rosacea-associated erythema, photodamaged and aged skin, skin inflammation, dehydration, and impaired skin barrier function.
