heparin + piperacillin + tazobactam

This is a combination of three drugs:

• Heparin is an anticoagulant that works by potentiate the activity of antithrombin III, thereby inhibiting thrombin and factor Xa, leading to prevention of blood clot formation.
• Piperacillin is a broad-spectrum penicillin-class antibacterial agent that inhibits bacterial cell wall synthesis by binding to penicillin-binding proteins.
• Tazobactam is a beta-lactamase inhibitor that protects piperacillin from enzymatic degradation by beta-lactamase-producing bacteria, thereby extending its antibacterial spectrum.

The combination of piperacillin and tazobactam (often marketed as Zosyn) is used for the treatment of various serious infections including intra-abdominal infections, nosocomial pneumonia, skin and skin structure infections, female pelvic infections, and community-acquired pneumonia. Heparin may be co-administered in clinical settings where both infection control and anticoagulation are required; however, this specific triple combination does not have a unique brand or product name. Coadministration requires monitoring due to potential interactions affecting coagulation parameters.
