Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Heparin sodium (bovine source) is an unfractionated heparin (UFH) anticoagulant developed and manufactured by Hebei Changshan Biochemical Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd. (HBCS Bio). Extracted from bovine intestinal mucosa or lung, this sulfated glycosaminoglycan acts as a biologic drug that potentiates the activity of antithrombin III (ATIII). This complex subsequently inhibits thrombin (Factor IIa) and Factor Xa, effectively preventing the formation of fibrin clots. It is indicated for the prevention and treatment of various thromboembolic disorders, including deep vein thrombosis (DVT), pulmonary embolism (PE), and acute coronary syndrome, as well as for anticoagulation during surgical procedures and hemodialysis. Notably, the bovine-sourced product is Halal certified, catering to specific global market requirements.
