Drug intelligence / Profile preview
HAVAX is an inactivated hepatitis A vaccine developed and manufactured by **Vabiotech** (Company for Vaccine and Biological Production No.1) in Vietnam. It is the first hepatitis A vaccine to be produced domestically in Vietnam. The vaccine is prepared from the hepatitis A virus (HAV) grown in human diploid cell cultures (MRC-5), which is subsequently purified, inactivated with formaldehyde, and adsorbed onto an aluminum hydroxide adjuvant. HAVAX is designed to stimulate active immunity by inducing the production of specific neutralizing anti-HAV antibodies, thereby preventing infection by the hepatitis A virus. It is approved for use in both pediatric (from 12 months of age) and adult populations, typically administered as a two-dose primary series.
