Drug intelligence / Profile preview
The hepatitis a vaccine + hepatitis b vaccine is a fixed-dose combination immunization product containing inactivated hepatitis A virus antigen and recombinant hepatitis B surface antigen. It is used to induce active immunity against both the hepatitis A virus (HAV) and all known subtypes of the hepatitis B virus (HBV). The mechanism of action involves stimulating the immune system to produce specific antibodies against HAV and HBV, thereby providing protection from infection. This combination is primarily indicated for adults and adolescents at increased risk for both infections due to travel, occupation, lifestyle factors, or underlying health conditions. The most widely available brand is Twinrix.
