Hepatitis B antigen peptide is a protein fragment derived from the Hepatitis B virus surface antigen (HBsAg). It is designed to elicit an immune response against the Hepatitis B virus. This peptide has been investigated as a component in vaccine therapies, including an orally delivered formulation expressed in transgenic potato tubers (HBV-EPV), and as an immunotherapeutic agent when pulsed onto autologous dendritic cells. Its primary function is to act as an antigen to stimulate the body's immune system to recognize and potentially combat Hepatitis B.
