A combination vaccine formulation consisting of *hepatitis B surface antigen* (HBsAg) together with an immunological adjuvant. The HBsAg component stimulates the production of specific antibodies against hepatitis B virus, conferring immunity by inducing both humoral and cellular immune responses. Adjuvants used in these formulations enhance the immune response: traditional adjuvants like aluminum salts (aluminum hydroxide or amorphous aluminum hydroxyphosphate sulfate) are commonly included in approved commercial vaccines, while novel adjuvants like CpG 1018 (HEPLISAV-B) or L-pampo (a lipopeptide-synthetic dsRNA coprecipitate) or experimental polymers (PEG–PAEEP) can further improve immunogenicity or shift the immune response profile[1][2][3][5]. These vaccines are primarily used for the prevention of hepatitis B infection and its sequelae.
