Drug intelligence / Profile preview
JuvImmune is a recombinant DNA vaccine indicated for active immunization against infection caused by all known subtypes of the hepatitis B virus (HBV). The vaccine contains purified hepatitis B surface antigen (HBsAg), which is produced by recombinant DNA technology in *Saccharomyces cerevisiae* (yeast) cells. By introducing the HBsAg into the body, JuvImmune stimulates the immune system to produce specific neutralizing antibodies (anti-HBs) that provide long-term protection against the virus. It is primarily used to prevent hepatitis B and its associated chronic conditions, such as liver cirrhosis and hepatocellular carcinoma, and is typically administered via intramuscular injection in a multi-dose schedule.
