Hepatosome (EST-103) is a preclinical-stage exosome-based therapeutic being developed by Exostemtech for the treatment of liver fibrosis and related chronic liver conditions such as non-alcoholic steatohepatitis (NASH). The therapy consists of extracellular vesicles (exosomes) derived from stem cells, which are isolated and purified using proprietary technology. Hepatosome is designed to deliver a complex cargo of bioactive proteins and microRNAs directly to the liver. Its mechanism of action involves modulating the hepatic microenvironment to suppress inflammation and inhibit the activation of hepatic stellate cells, the primary drivers of fibrotic tissue deposition. By targeting these pathways, Hepatosome aims to arrest or reverse the progression of liver scarring and promote tissue regeneration.
