Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Hepavax-B is a recombinant Hepatitis B vaccine designed for active immunization against all known subtypes of the Hepatitis B virus (HBV). It is manufactured by Popular Pharmaceuticals and is derived from the surface antigen of HBV, produced using genetically engineered yeast cells (Saccharomyces cerevisiae). The vaccine functions by stimulating the body's immune system to generate protective antibodies against the Hepatitis B surface antigen (HBsAg), thereby conferring immunity and preventing HBV infection. Additionally, it is expected to prevent Hepatitis D infection, which is contingent on the presence of Hepatitis B. Hepavax-B is administered via intramuscular injection.
