Drug intelligence / Profile preview
HepaVaxx B is a recombinant hepatitis B vaccine containing purified hepatitis B surface antigen (HBsAg). Developed by CJ CheilJedang, the vaccine is produced using recombinant DNA technology in *Saccharomyces cerevisiae* (yeast) cells. It is indicated for active immunization against infection caused by all known subtypes of the hepatitis B virus (HBV). The vaccine works by stimulating the host's immune system to produce specific neutralizing antibodies (anti-HBs) against the surface antigen, thereby providing long-term protection against HBV-related diseases, including chronic hepatitis, cirrhosis, and hepatocellular carcinoma. It is typically administered as a series of intramuscular injections and is widely used in national immunization programs.
