Drug intelligence / Profile preview
**HepTcell** is an investigational therapeutic vaccine for chronic hepatitis B developed from the FP-02.2 program. It consists of nine synthetic peptides representing conserved hepatitis B virus sequences and is formulated with IC31, a Toll-like receptor 9 based adjuvant. The vaccine was designed to restore HBV-specific T-cell responses, overcome immune tolerance, and support a functional cure defined by loss of circulating hepatitis B surface antigen. Altimmune evaluated HepTcell in Phase 1 and Phase 2 studies, but ended further development after the Phase 2 program showed insufficient overall efficacy to justify advancement.
