This is a cancer vaccine combination consisting of HER-2/neu peptides and carcinoembryonic antigen (CEA) peptides combined with granulocyte-macrophage colony-stimulating factor (GM-CSF) as an immune adjuvant, emulsified in Montanide ISA-51, a water-in-oil adjuvant. The vaccine is designed to stimulate the immune system to recognize and attack cancer cells expressing HER-2/neu and CEA antigens. The HER-2/neu peptides target the HER-2 protein overexpressed in various cancers, while CEA peptides target the carcinoembryonic antigen commonly found in gastrointestinal cancers. GM-CSF enhances the recruitment and maturation of antigen-presenting cells, while Montanide ISA-51 creates a depot effect that prolongs antigen exposure to the immune system and enhances the immune response.
