HER.CAR CMV-specific CTLs are autologous cytotoxic T lymphocytes (CTLs) derived from a patient and genetically modified to express a chimeric antigen receptor (CAR) targeting the human epidermal growth factor receptor 2 (HER2). These T cells are also specific for cytomegalovirus (CMV), meaning they retain their native ability to recognize and respond to CMV antigens. The dual specificity allows these engineered T cells to target and kill HER2-expressing tumor cells while leveraging the persistence and expansion potential of virus-specific memory T cells. This approach is being investigated primarily for patients with HER2-positive, CMV-positive glioblastoma multiforme and other cancers expressing HER2[1][2]. The product is investigational and not approved by regulatory authorities.
