HER2 CAR-IMANs is an experimental allogeneic cell therapy being developed by LIfT BioSciences. The therapy utilizes genetically engineered immunomodulatory alpha neutrophils (IMANs), which are super-enhanced neutrophils produced via the company's proprietary N-LIfT (Neutrophil Only Leukocyte Infusion Therapy) platform. These cells are modified to express a chimeric antigen receptor (CAR) that targets the Human Epidermal Growth Factor Receptor 2 (HER2), a protein frequently overexpressed in various solid tumors. Unlike traditional CAR-T therapies, HER2 CAR-IMANs leverage the innate ability of neutrophils to infiltrate the tumor microenvironment. The therapy is designed to exert anti-tumor effects through both direct cytotoxic killing of HER2-positive cancer cells and indirect modulation of the immunosuppressive tumor microenvironment. Preclinical studies have demonstrated a significant increase in cancer cell killing potency compared to unmodified IMANs. The product is currently in development for difficult-to-treat solid tumors, including pancreatic, lung, gastric, and rectal cancers.
