HER3-primed dendritic cells are an autologous cell therapy product consisting of patient-derived dendritic cells that have been ex vivo primed with immunogenic peptides derived from the human epidermal growth factor receptor 3 (HER3/ERBB3). These primed dendritic cells are designed to present tumor-associated antigens to the immune system, thereby stimulating a robust adaptive immune response—particularly Th1-type CD4+ and CD8+ T-cell responses—against tumors expressing HER3. This approach is being investigated primarily for breast cancers with low hormone receptor expression and negative for human epidermal growth factor receptor 2 (HER2), including triple-negative breast cancer (TNBC) and HR-low breast cancer. The therapy is administered via intratumoral or intrathecal injection, often alternating with similarly prepared HER2-primed DCs as part of clinical trials such as DecipHER. The goal is to enhance anti-tumor immunity prior to or in combination with standard therapies such as chemotherapy or immune checkpoint inhibitors[1][4][5][7].
