Herba lycopi (Ze Lan; 泽兰) is the aerial part of the plant Lycopus lucidus used in Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM). It is classified as an herb that invigorates blood and dispels blood stasis. Traditionally, it is used to promote healthy blood circulation—especially for cardiovascular conditions and menstrual irregularities—and to treat acute pain or swelling due to trauma or blood stagnation. Herba lycopi also has diuretic properties and can be used for edema and urinary dysfunction. The main active constituents include tannins and flavonoids. In TCM theory, it enters the liver and spleen meridians and is considered slightly warm in nature with a bitter and acrid taste[2][3][5][6].
