Overview
Heregulin-1β (HRGβ1), also known as neuregulin 1-beta 1 (NRG1-β1), is a recombinant polypeptide growth factor belonging to the neuregulin/epidermal growth factor (EGF) family. It functions as a ligand for members of the ErbB (HER/EGFR) receptor family, binding specifically to ErbB3 (HER3) and ErbB4 (HER4), and stimulating receptor dimerization with ErbB2 (HER2). Heregulin-1β activates downstream signaling pathways including PI3K/Akt and MAPK/ERK, regulating cell proliferation, migration, differentiation, and survival. It is studied for roles in heart failure, nervous system development, and cancer, particularly breast cancer, where it contributes to tumor progression, metastasis, and therapeutic resistance[1][3][5][6][7].
