Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Herpazon is a topical combination cream containing the antiviral acyclovir (5%) and the corticosteroid hydrocortisone (1%). Marketed by Apeks Pharma and manufactured by İlko İlaç, it is indicated for the treatment of herpes simplex virus (HSV) skin infections, particularly herpes labialis (cold sores). Acyclovir acts as a nucleoside analogue that inhibits viral DNA polymerase, thereby preventing viral replication. Hydrocortisone, a low-potency corticosteroid, acts as a glucocorticoid receptor agonist to provide anti-inflammatory effects, reducing the erythema and edema associated with herpes lesions. This dual-action approach aims to both treat the underlying viral infection and alleviate the inflammatory symptoms associated with the outbreak.
