Drug intelligence / Profile preview
The hERV-based cancer vaccine is a therapeutic vaccine candidate developed by Sementis using its proprietary Sementis Copenhagen Vector (SCV) platform. The vaccine is designed to target human endogenous retroviruses (hERVs), which are ancient viral sequences integrated into the human genome that are typically silenced in healthy cells but become reactivated and expressed as antigens in various malignancies. By utilizing the SCV platform—a multi-antigen, non-replicating viral vector derived from the vaccinia virus—the vaccine aims to stimulate a robust immune response against hERV-expressing tumor cells. The program is currently in the IND-enabling phase for the treatment of various cancers.
