Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Heweitongxie granules is a Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) hospital preparation developed by the Affiliated Hospital of Chengdu University of Traditional Chinese Medicine for the treatment of functional constipation. The formulation is designed to harmonize the stomach and regulate gastrointestinal motility, particularly in patients presenting with Qi stagnation and Yin deficiency. Pharmacological studies indicate that the granules improve colonic transit by modulating the levels of gastrointestinal regulatory peptides, specifically by increasing the expression of excitatory neurotransmitters like Substance P (SP) and decreasing inhibitory ones like Vasoactive Intestinal Peptide (VIP) in the colonic tissue. It is administered orally and is widely used within the developer's clinical practice as an effective alternative to conventional laxatives.
