Overview

Hexagen is a topical antimicrobial ointment and wound dressing developed by Turn Therapeutics, primarily indicated for the management of acute and chronic wounds, burns, eczema, and as a skin and nasal antiseptic. The formulation uses a proprietary nanodroplet suspension technology in a petrolatum base with active antimicrobial preservatives including polyhexamethylene biguanide (PHMB) and benzalkonium chloride (BZK). It is non-cytotoxic, non-sensitizing, non-irritating, and designed to maintain moisture at the wound or skin surface to promote healing. Documented activity includes protection against MRSA, Staphylococcus aureus, Candida auris/albicans, human coronavirus, Pseudomonas species; it exhibits antiviral, antibacterial, antifungal properties. The product has FDA clearance for use in managing eczema symptoms and is being investigated for additional indications such as onychomycosis (toenail fungus)[1][3][6][7].
